31.08. - 09.09.2007
at the Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften
and the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, Campus Charité Mitte
The 7th Berlin Summerschool made it possible to further intensify the cooperation with young european psychiatrists on a scientific level. The summerschool is now part of the „IMAGEN“ project, which is funded by the EU and has its main focus on genetics and imaging. Once again it was directed by Priv.-Doz. Dr. A. Ströhle, Prof. Dr. A. Heinz, Prof. Dr. H. Helmchen und Prof. Dr. N. Sartorius. Lectures were also held by Prof. Dr. W. Maier, Prof. Dr. I. Puls, Dr. Dr. M. Rapp und Dr. J. Wrase. Out of 18 applications from Bulgaria, France, Ireland, Montenegro, Poland, Rumania, Russia, Serbia and Germany 13 young scientists were chosen. At the beginning the participants had the opportunity to take part in the 6th Charité Conference „Emotional Neuroscience“ and furthermore to present their own scientific work and get to know high-ranking international scientists. Subsequently the participants were introduced to current scientific developments in psychiatry focussing on genetics and imaging. A special emphasis lay in the further development and advancement of the participants by means of multifaceted exercises on how to make a presentation, how to present a poster, how to read scientific publications and so on. The participants appreciated in particular the intensive exchange with the university lecturers.
