GABO is an innovative service company with 25 years of experience in the IT and consulting business. GABO employs more than 60 specialists from different fields of science. GABO has experience in organising and controlling complex research and development projects, e.g. projects funded by the German Ministry of Science and Education, the pharmaceutical and large scale industry. Moreover, GABO is specialised in project management for Integrated Projects and Networks of Excellence as well as in other instruments of the 6th Framework Programme of the European Commission. The company is classified as an SME.
Project managers with GABO all attend full time and are experienced with medium- and large-scale EC projects. They have a sound knowledge of the guidelines and know how to apply contractual provisions. They are well familiar with reporting and accounting procedures in the Framework Programmes and are used to guiding consortia through these challenges. The team at GABO stands for professional, effective and efficient research management which is appreciated both by the Commission and by the project partners.
In order to ensure punctual and error-free submission of reports and financial statements, GABO developed the web-based project management tool :milliarium solely for the use of FP6/7 consortia. GABO’s competence and :milliarium were cited favourably by the European Parliament in the “Working Document 5 on grant application procedures and the Financial Regulation in connection with the Sixth Framework Programme for Research” (Committee on Budgets and Committee on Budgetary Control, 2005, p.8). Being an expert for EU Framework Programmes, GABO was invited by the European Parliament to lecture about improvement potential in the rules for participation in February 2006. :milliarium is also considered a best-practice solution for EU Framework Programme projects by SPARK (SSA FP6, “Strategic Project Management Resource Kit”, aims at fostering excellence by establishing a reference pool of key management processes, methods and tools based on (LSH) project experiences”). Also KOWI, the EU Liaison Office of the German Research Organisations, seeked advice from GABO when discussing and negotiating the Rules for Participation with decision makers in the European community. GABO was invited as a lecturer at many KOWI workshops.
GABO is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001 obligating for Excellence in cooperation with the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM). GABO has been awarded numerous times for outstanding accomplishments in project management, product quality, quality management and innovation (Winner of the Bavarian Quality Award 2002, Best employer in the German small business sector 2002/2003 and 2006/2007, TOP 100 - innovative companies of medium size in Germany 2000, Entrepreneur of the Year 1998).
