Management Structure of IMAGEN

The Project Governing Board is the principal decision-making body of the Project consists of all team leaders of the IMAGEN participants including their teams working on the Project.

The Co-ordinator of IMAGEN is Professor Dr. Gunter Schumann. The Co-ordinator is the intermediary between the European Commission and the Consortium as well as the supervisor of the overall progress of the Project.

The Project Management Offices (PMO) are the central offices of IMAGEN based at the Co-ordinator and at GABO:mi. The PMO at the Co-ordinator is concerned with the scientific management and the co-ordination of all research activities. The PMO at GABO:mi is responsible for administrative, financial and contractual management and the organisational co-ordination of the project activities.

The Project Co-ordination Committee means the Sub-project decision-making body and has the role of a steering committee.

The Project Executive Committee means the supervisory body of the Implementation Plan and is chaired by the Co-ordinator.

The Scientific Advisory Board chaired by Professor Dr. Daniel Weinberger, Chief of the Clinical Brain Disorders Branch of the NIMH reviews the scientific progress of the different workpackages and makes recommendations to the Project Governing Board. The Scientific Advisory Board consists of following internationally recognised experts in areas related to the study:   

• Neuroimaging: Professor Dr. Richard Frackowiak, London
• Genetics:   Professor Dr. Tony Monaco, Oxford
• Human Behavioural:  Professor Dr. Richard Tremblay, Montreal
• Sociology:  Professor Dr. Johannes Siegrist, Duesseldorf
• Addiction:   Professor Dr. Wim van den Brink, Amsterdam
• Animal behaviour:  Professor Dr. Pier Vincenzo Piazza, Bordeaux 

The Exploitation Committee chaired by Professor Dr. Marcella Rietschel (WP09) reviews the ethical issues of the project and overtakes an advising function.
